The Ospishes Art Kelektiv (Auspicious Art Collective) endeavors to create an innovative and nurturing space where local artists can enjoy productivity, fellowship, and support, both economically and emotionally. In the heart of Calgary, this space is intended to invite, envelop, and encapsulate community and inclusivity.
1. Accountability
Ospishes Art Kelektiv encourages artists, volunteers, and staff to take the initiative of living our values. Each thing that we do daily affects others and our space. Everyone encourages each other, supports each other, and lends a hand. Staff, Volunteers, and Artists are responsible for maintaining our shared building, vision, and mission.
2. Creativity
Creativity can open many doors in our lives. It changes how we think, feel, and interpret our lives and allows us to experience new things in new ways. The enrichment provided by indulging and developing our creativity improves quality and enjoyability of life. Corporate donations that sponsor our Artists allow unincumbered room for this creativity to be exercised.
3. Inclusivity
Everyone is welcome through the doors at Ospishes Art Kelektiv. We retain a philosophy of nonjudgement and will welcome any person to engage, learn, create, and grow with us. We will make any reasonable accommodations available to make sure that every person that wants to participate at Ospishes Art Kelektiv is able to.
4. Recovery
Recovery is a lifelong journey which requires strong supports and a welcoming community. Ospishes Art Kelektiv recognizes and values those that are on that journey, the progress they have made, and provides a safe space for them to access support and move forward. Recovery can apply to many people that we encounter in our everyday lives. From PTSD to addictions to intergenerational trauma, there are many types of recovery, and we will continue to recognize each one and honor those that are on that journey.
5. Community
We recognize that every person has their own knowledge, experience, and goals and that by working together as a community we take the greatest advantage of the compilation of everyone’s knowledge, experiences, and common goals. As individuals we are powerful, but as a community we are unstoppable.
6. Balance
Reaching balance in life involves a mix of doing what you love, doing what is expected of you and having a positive impact where you intend to. At Ospishes Art Kelektiv we can assist with all the facets of balance and encourage our community to help each other define and live their own balance.
